Cinema in Progress: The Sugar Curtain is a portrayal of the singular experience shared by people of the film makers generation -- those living Cuba's utopian dream during the golden era of the revolution. It is also a lament for the end of that dream, which began to fizzle after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Feminine Space Documentaries: Dance in Freedom: The Last Devadasis--This documentary, the result of a project that took place in Karnataka, India, depicts the lives of women who are part of a social and religious group called the Devadasis, servants to the Goddess Yellama. The story of the Devadasis goes back to the sixth century, when their duties encompassed rituals officiated exclusively by female worshippers. Performing dance, music, and poetry, they created a semi-matriarchal system which allowed them to fulfill their obligations. Now, having been expelled from the temples, they survive through religious prostitution, an illegal practice in Karnataka since 1982.

Curated by Claudi Carreras, the exhibition E•CO gathered photographic projects by twenty Latin American and European photographic collectives, each tasked with crafting a visual essay about one of the most important topics of our day: the environment. Free of curatorial influence, the collectives define “environment” for themselves and maintain their own production and editing processes. E•CO is a sample of the most pressing environmental problems, in the countries where the collectives are operating. First in Madrid and later in Soria, Chicago, Miami and Washington, among others, E•CO 2010 assembled 20 photographic collectives.
